The passionate debates and deliberations, the good food (I'm talking about kelewele, banku and okro soup,fried rice, khebab etc.) all contributed to a very special night at the general meeting on Saturday, September 8. The energy and enthusiasm shown by all in attendance was just fantastic. The massive turnout was particularly impressive considering that we were competing against the UK-Kent State football game and the Roots and Heritage festival downtown for the same time slot.
Our hosts, the Darko-Mensahs were simply superb. Brenda and Sam were classy (and brave) enough to open their beautiful home to about sixty people, they went out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable and we are very grateful for their hospitality. We missed those who couldn't make it due to family, work and other obligations.The order of business for the occassion included ratifying the association's constitution and bylaws, election and swearing-in of executive officers, and official membership sign ups.
The general assembly also voted for a monthly membership dues of $10. The elected executive officers are: Fredua Dankwa Jr. (K.K.)- President, Kwame Bonsu (Apio)- Vice President, Frank Boateng- Treasurer, Dinah Davies- Secretary, Kwadwo Darko-Mensah (Onasis)- Public Relations Officer (Lexington), Enoch Boakye Nsiah- Public
